One of the advantages of being a kid is that when you’re tired, you can sit and rest in a stroller. Although strollers are popular among children and parents all over the world, in the United States, the kids are choosing a new and more comfortable mode of transportation: a wagon. 

Maggie Hathaway, an aunt to two young girls, is among the growing number of caregivers and parents who are transporting their kids in a wagon, not a stroller. “Sea World or the fair?anywhere, the little one wants to lay down,” Ms. Hathaway said. Her nieces’ wagon is bright blue and filled with pillows and toys. 

It’s easy to see why kids, and parents, prefer wagons to strollers. Wagons are big, strong, and can hold more space. In Los Angeles, Brenda Lemus, a mother to a young daughter, bought a wagon six years ago. It has a wooden railing, the back can hold an ice chest, and there is a storage locker under the wagon’s belly. “We put our undercarriage on the bottom, just so we won’t have to be carrying bags and bags and bags,” Mrs. Lemus said. “We can just put everything in there and it’s very convenient.” 

The wagons may be convenient, but they’re not very affordable. The prices can average anywhere from $395, according to Tiffany Nelson, the owner of West Coast Wagons. The more expensive wagons can cost up to $2000, featuring DVD players and other cool accessories.
